THE VIENNA INTERNATIONAL BALLET EXPERIENCE - VIBE SUMMER WORKSHOP PRAGUE
After many years of competition organization, we wanted to offer more possibilities to young dancers to improve in a non competitive environment. 2025 marks the start of our new VIBE WORKSHOP SERIES, starting with our first Destination Prague, in collaboration with United Ballet Artists.

Hatala
PRESIDENT
Born in Vienna, Gregor Hatala grew up in the world of ballet. His father, Milan Hatala, himself a soloist dancer with various companies and ballet master of the Vienna State Opera for almost 30 years, became his major teacher, while his mother, Christine Hatala, directs the families' own private ballet school.
In 1990 Gregor Hatala became the youngest member of the Vienna State Opera Ballet and was promoted soloist in 1996 and principal in 2000.
The season of 1994/95 he danced as a soloist with Boston Ballet (director B. Marks) and was a permanent principal guest artist with the Hungarian and Slovakian National Theatres from 1999 to 2004.
Starting from 2003 to 2008 Gregor Hatala organized of the „Gala di Danza“ within the „Festival dei Due Mondi“ in Spoleto, Italy, and was a personal
consultant to Mr. Francis Menotti. From 2009 until 2019 he was chairman of the „Association Vienna State Opera Ballet” for which he choreographed and organized ballet performances & company tours.
From 2011 to 2017 Gregor Hatala was President of the Austrian Dance Council and organized the "Ballet Days" festival in Vienna for 4 years.
In 2013 he became pedagogue at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität Wien and in 2014 guest Balletmaster at the Slovakian National Theatre and Hungarian National Ballet.
After 25 years of professional dancing, Gregor Hatala, gave his farewell performance at the Vienna State Opera as “Prince Rudolf” in Kenneth MacMillan's "Mayerling" in December 2014.
In 2015 Gregor Hatala founded VIBE- the Vienna International Ballet Experience, the first international dance competition for dancers with and without disabilities, which has been held in Austria, Korea, the U.S. and Australia.
In 2018 Gregor Hatala was awarded the “Cross of Honor for Science and Art first class” by the President of the Republic of Austria.
Gregor Hatala has choreographed for the Vienna Volksopera („Der Vetter aus Dingsda“, „ Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor“), the Spoleto Festival, the Istanbul Music Festival („Firebird“), as well as the „Midsummernights Concert 2011 & 2012“ of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra with Valery Gergiev & Gustavo Dudamel respectively.
For many years he has been a guest teacher in various companies and ballet academies such as the Vienna State Ballet, Hungarian National Ballet, Slovakian National Ballet, Latvian National Ballet, Dance Conservatory Eva Jaczová/ Bratislava, Hungarian Dance University, Riga Ballet School, Tallinn School of Music and Ballet, JK Master Ballet School/ Prague, Milano City Ballet,…
Gregor Hatala has also served as a jury member in various dance competition around the world.

JANA KUROVA
The prima ballerina of the Ballet of Prague National Theatre (1977 – 1991), Teacher, Ballet Mistress, Choreographer, Winner of Domestic and International Awards.
Member of the Jury for International Ballet Competitions in Lausanne, Luxembourg, Roma, Varna, Istanbul, Jackson, (Mississippi, USA) and Shanghai (China). Founder and Artistic Director of the United Ballet Artists, which presents JK Ballet Master Program, Ballet Masterclasses with Jana Kurova and Summer Ballet Program.
Jana Kurova is distinguish artist of Czech ballet. Her perfect technique and a pure classical ballet style destinated her for leading roles. Her repertoire includes classical creation in original versions of famous choreographers as well as neoclassical and contemporary works.
She was born in Prague. In 1980, she graduated from the Prague State Conservatoire of Music and Dance, with highest honours, with the performance of "Giselle" and "Ur" at the Prague National Theatre. She also studied at the Bolshoi Academy of Ballet and Choreography in Moscow, and she attended the famous David Howard Ballet Studio in New York.

She performed with a great success at Broadway in the "All Star Gala", which was presented under the auspices of famous artists, such as Rudolf Nureyev, Leonard Bernstein, Lucciano Pavarotti, Elizabeth Taylor, Zubin Mehta and others.
She has visited many countries as a guest artist, has performed at numerous international ballet festivals and took also part in several ballet films in Czech Republic but also in abroad.
In 2001, she was guest professor at The Korean National University of Arts (South Korea). Seminars were presented also at Yale, Dartmouth and Purdue Universities (USA).
In 1995, she has entered the American "Hall of Fame".
In 2000, she became a member of the Committee of Experts of the first Monaco Dance Awards.
She staged the full-lenght ballet "Creation of the World" in the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre and choreography for the "Swan Lake" (after Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov) in the State Opera in Prague in connection with the "Prague Ballet Summer", The Nutcracker and others. At present, she works as a Teacher, Ballet Mistress and Choreographer.

She has performed for Queen Sophia of Spain in " Gran Gala de las Estrellas de la Danza" in Madrid.
All Star Gala
She made US debut in 1979 in New York. She performed in "All Star Gala" on Broadway at the Beacon Theatre. The performance was presented under patronage of such stars as Sir Rudolf Nureyev, Leonard Bernstein, Lucciano Pavarotti, Elizabeth Taylor, Zubin Mehta, Richard Burton, Suzanne Farrell, Henry Fonda, Arthur Miller, Issac Stern, Pinchas Zukerman, Ella Fitzgerald and many others famous personalities.
A Gala Performance | The National Ballet of Canada
She performed with National Ballet of Canada and she took part in the "Gala Performance" together with Natalia Makarova and Peter Martins.
Italian Tour with Carla Fracci
She toured Italy together with prima ballerina Carla Fracci and her company.
Festival internacional de ballet de la Habana
In the same year she was invited by Alicia Alonso to perform in the ballet production of "La Fille mal gardée" together with The National Ballet of Cuba and later, she was invited again by Alicia Alonso to take part in the International Ballet Festival in Cuba.

Muriel Romero — Director
Muriel Romero (Murcia, 1972) began her studies in classical dance, Spanish dance and music under the guidance of Alicia Monteagudo Ros. At the age of 11, she entered the Spanish National Ballet School, directed by María de Ávila. She continued her training with Lola de Ávila, and, at the same time, she studied classical dance in the free examination category, obtaining honors in all her courses. At the age of 14, she won the first National Prize for Classical Dance at the competition Ciudad de Barcelona, and at the age of 15, she won the Prix du Paris at the prestigious international competition Prix de Lausanne.
In 1988, at the age of 16, she joined the Compañía Nacional de Danza under the direction of Maya Plisétskaya, where she danced leading roles in classics such as Paquita by Marius Petipa, Les Sylphides by Mikhail Fokine and The Four Temperaments by George Balanchine. That same year she performed at the International Ballet Competition in Moscow, where she won three accolades: Mikhail Baryshnikov Award, Critics' Award and Audience Award. This allowed her to begin his international career as first soloist of the Bayerisches Staatsballett (Munich), where she expanded her repertoire with works of the 19th and 20th centuries.
In 1993, she performed at the Nationaltheater in Mannheim and the Stars Gala at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, consolidating her classical dance career as prima ballerina of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. In 1995, she returned to the Compañía Nacional de Danza under the direction of Nacho Duato, where she worked with prestigious choreographers of the 20th century, including Jiří Kylián, Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe and Saburô Teshigawara.
In the year 2000, she began his career as a freelance artist, exploring new formats and collaborating with avant-garde choreographers and playwriters such as La Ribot, Sasha Waltz, Cisco Aznar, Mateo Feijóo and the Unterwegs Theater. She completed her career as a soloist with the company Grand Théâtre de Genève, and later, from 2006 to 2008, as first soloist at the Semperoper Ballett in Dresden, under the direction of the Canadian Aaron S. Watkin, where she deepened her artistic relationship with the choreographer William Forsythe.
In 2008, together with composer Pablo Palacio, she founded the Stocos Institute, a transdisciplinary project that investigates the intersection between dance and technology through the combination of dance, music, mathematics, experimental psychology and artificial intelligence. In his stage creations, she has developed an original vision in which the body is transformed into a place from which sound, image and light emanate interactively. Many of his works have been performed at festivals in Europe, America, Africa and Asia.
In addition, she has promoted and participated in prestigious European projects in the field of dance, together with other institutions such as the Politecnico di Milano, the Università degli Studi di Genova (Casa Paganini), the Coventry University, or the Motion Bank, a research project of the Forsythe Company. She has developed within them new techniques and technologies oriented to both the creation and teaching of dance, and to the preservation of the European choreographic heritage.
In 2021, she obtained a scholarship at the Real Academia de España en Roma in the Performing Arts category, with which she developed a research on the relationship between visual arts, dance, interactive music and artificial intelligence, resulting in the choreography Risonanze Occulte, with music by Pablo Palacio. It was distributed in different stage and filmic formats at the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea and the Tempietto di Bramante in the city of Rome.
In 2022, she premiered, with the Stocos Institute, the production Embodied Machine, at the Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona. During the last few years, she has been working on a new European project for the Horizon Europe program.
Since September 2024, she occupies the position of director of the Compañía Nacional de Danza.

Kristian Lever
Choreographer, Director, Founder of
Klever Creatives

Kristian Lever is an award-winning choreographer and former professional ballet dancer, known for his evocative storytelling and distinctive movement language. Trained at the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy and Palucca Hochschule für Tanz, Kristian went on to dance for John Neumeier in Hamburg, before delving full-time into choreography.
Recognized early for his talent, Kristian received the Erik Bruhn Prize from the National Ballet of Canada for his work on the Hamburg Ballet. He was also named a Promising Talent by TANZ magazine. His choreographic works have been commissioned by leading dance companies blending classical foundations with contemporary innovation to create emotionally resonant performances.
Expanding his artistic vision, Kristian successfully transitioned into filmmaking, bringing his expertise in movement and visual composition to the screen. His debut short film premiered at Oscar-qualifying festivals worldwide solidifying his reputation as a multidisciplinary artist.

At Introdans since: August 2012
Ruben Ameling de Leeuw trained at the Royal Ballet School in Antwerp and Codarts in Rotterdam. He has been a dancer with Introdans since 2012, working with leading international choreographers including Jiří Kylián, Hans van Manen, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Lucinda Childs, Inbal Pinto and many others. Known for his perfectionism and artistic flair, Ruben sees his body as an instrument for creating beauty, continuously striving for technical and expressive excellence on stage.

Rules
- Workshops will be held in Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance.
- Participants will be divided in Children (10-12 years) and Teenagers (13 years and older)
- Coaching/ Competition preparation will be held in groups for „Children“ and individually for „Teenagers“.
- Participants have to provide their own music for pieces they wish to work on (variations should not exceed 2’30 to leave enough time for coaching!).
- The number of participants is limited to 40.
- VIBE reserves the right to cancel any activities 2 months prior to the announced dates.
- Paid fees will be returned immediately.
- Unfortunately VIBE does not take liability for any other expenses of the participants.
- The competition fees do not include insurance for the participants. VIBE assumes no liability for the dancers' participation during the workshops. The organization declines any responsibility for accidents that may occur during the workshops and/or for the theft or loss of personal property.
- VIBE reserves the right to use any photo or video recording of the participants’ during the workshops for promotional / commercial purposes. - Participants and their parents and/or legal guardians give VIBE their express permission to use any such photo/video recordings (including those containing their name or likeness) for VIBE's promotional purposes (including any uses in print, online or social media).
- A registration, once accepted and valid, may be cancelled at any time by the organizer with immediate effects, whenever a participant shows the lack of respect and/ or mistreat any member of the organization, the jury or a fellow dancer or when VIBE rules and regulations are not upheld by the participant.
- The display of political, national and/or religious statements is strictly forbidden.
- The cancellation of a registration will be communicated verbally or by email to the participant or teacher/ school responsible for the dancer and is not subject to complaint or contest. There is no refund of participation fees and compensation for other costs and expenses of the disqualified dancer.
- All registered participants accept the rules and regulations of VIBE.
